OUR STORY
More than just our name, Ballina is our home. Nestled between the River Moy and the Ox Mountains amid the breathtaking landscapes of County Mayo’s wild and rugged coastline, it’s here where the river’s pure, fresh water meets the in-flowing salty Atlantic Ocean. Where the calm meets the storm.
Opened in 2015, our distillery was the first to be built in County Mayo for 150 years, bringing craft whiskey production back to Ireland’s West Coast. Inspired by the unspoilt purity of our surroundings, every drop of Ballina Whiskey is an expression of pride in our craft, our local ingredients, our environment and our sense of place.
About the Distillery
Our distillery was built within a loving restoration of the old Duffy’s Bakery in Ballina. It was first opened in 2015 and began whiskey production the following year. It’s a truly special place on the banks of the Moy that has been designed around a commitment to authentic small batch craft production, allowing us to mill, mash, ferment, distil, mature and bottle all on site.
Our dedication to craft distilling ensures we cask only the finest spirit, having our barrel room on site to allow it to mature to nature’s rhythm plays an important role in ensuring our single malt whiskey captures the essence of our unique West Ireland terroir.
